The name itself honors ‘Nonna’ Rose, who started this little company in the 1980’s. While she hasn’t worked in the kitchen for nearly two decades, her vision and dedication remain at the foundation of everything we do. Every sign, every plate, every event carries her legacy.

We are seasoned food professionals who deliver excellence across every type of event. From weddings and corporate functions to cultural celebrations, fundraisers, and private dinners. Every event is approached with the same precision, care, and attention to detail. While the style or scale may vary, our commitment to flawless execution, thoughtful planning, and consistently high standards never changes

At the helm, Executive Chef & CEO Dov Sims leads California Rose with precision, vision, and uncompromising standards. The company is powered by a staff who have grown together over many years. This is not a revolving-door operation. Our leadership team, kitchen leads, and front-of-house professionals operate with clarity, anticipate needs, and hold one another to a shared standard of excellence. We take care of our people and they take care of our clients. That mutual commitment shows up in the food, the service, and the trust our clients place in us year after year.

Beyond catering, we provide full event support when needed, coordinating venues, rentals, logistics, and production elements allowing our clients to stay focused on their guests and the moment itself.

Chef Dov Sims has spent more than 25 years building trusted businesses, leading teams with intention, and producing events defined by consistency, care, and excellence. He is the owner and operator of California Rose Catering, Cali Alley, and Chef Affair, his private chef’s table experience, each rooted in precision, integrity, and a deep respect for the people he serves.

For Dov, cooking is more than a profession; it is a calling. There is a quiet reverence in an empty kitchen, the stillness before the movement begins. That calm gives way to exhilaration as he anticipates a full house, orchestrates hundreds, sometimes thousands, of meals, and watches a team execute with confidence, heart, and joy. That rhythm of creation, the moment when preparation meets performance, is what continues to fuel him.

His teams trust him because he invests in them through training, mentorship, and clear standards that elevate everyone involved. His clients trust him because he delivers thoughtfully, consistently, and without compromise. If something matters to his clients, it matters to him. Every detail is treated with care, every expectation honored, and every event approached as if it were his own.
